Gemstone Information

Here you find information about some of the gemstones that I use in my work,

Tourmaline

Tourmaline is a complex silicate mineral which comes in a wide variety of colours depending on the metals present in it. In fact they come in almost every colour you can think of and when you add the fact they are a hard gemstone (7-7.5 on Moh's scale) they become a brilliant stone to use in jewellery. Hard wearing and intense in colour they can be used in all types of jewellery. Green and pink are the most common but look out for bright blue, canary yellow and deep red. I love Tourmaline and use it a lot, often mixing it with other gemstones.
